Pacific Rock Quarry Expansion Approved
On June 18, 2026, the Ventura County Planning Commission approved the project expansion with modifications. Key changes include maintaining current hours of operation unless there is an emergency, and increasing blasting notice from 24 hours to 7 days. This long-term industrialization project extends quarry activity for another 60 years and expands the mine to a Concrete and Asphalt Recycling facility, permanently impacting sensitive habitats and wildlife corridors.

Protecting the Wildlife Corridor
Expert testimony from the Center for Biological Diversity and Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority urged rejection of the current EIR. Concerns center on the industrialization of Conejo Mountain, which undermines efforts to protect critical wildlife linkages between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Sierra Madre range. Residents highlighted risks to air quality, noise pollution, and property values as primary concerns for the growing community.
